Infrastructure is growing in India to meet the growing demands of population. This growth in Infrastructure has revolutionized the way structures are constructed resulting in optimal performance achieved within minimal cost and shortest possible time.

 

Geosynthetics is amongst those technologies which have made a big difference to the Infrastructure building, which apparently made projects viable and construction quicker.

 

However, the projects associated with construction of pavements on soft grounds pose bigger challenges to the developer/contractor to deal with these problems. These are areas which come with greater complexity and multiple issues such as poor sub-grade shear strength, higher ground water table or poor drainage and compounding the problem is scarcity of materials shooting up the project costs. This is very commonly encountered in Infrastructures built around Port areas like Container loading facility, stacking yards etc.

 

The conventional geosynthetics materials can offer help partially but not completely as they fail to perform multiple functions and using two products together will escalate project costs or cumbersome to install.

TenCate Mirafi HPa is multi-functional geotextile which is designed to support the multi-functional design requirements such as separation and reinforcement. The HPa geotextile is designed to reduce the thickness of the load carrying platform, which optimizes the quantum of engineered pavement material layer thickness to considerable extent supported by design methodology.    Extremely High Tensile Modulus:  to achieve Lateral confinement of pavement aggregates minimizes rutting and maintenance costs.

   Separation Performance: Small opening size of Mirafi HPa helps prevent intrusion of aggregates in to soft sub-grades as well prevent pumping of fines from the sub grade upwards in to the aggregate layer over time and extremely high tensile modulus to support confinement of aggregates.

   Permeability Performance: High permeability of Mirafi HPa allows rapid dissipation of excess pore pressure which usually develops in the sub-grade when wheel loads are induced, thereby helping to minimise un-drained conditions and reduce plastic deformations in the sub-grade.
