Manas Geo Tech India Pvt Ltd
Manas Geo Tech India Pvt Ltd Manas Geo Tech India is a leading manufacturer of Geo synthetics in India with modern European state of the art manufacturing facilities.
We help answer all major civil engineering problems with effective and efficient use of Geo synthetics.
Geo Synthetics are made of Polymer & help in stabilizing the soil. They help in increasing the CBR i.e. load bearing capacity of the soil.
Geo Synthetics mainly comprises of Geo Textile, Geo Grids, Geo Membrane and Geo Cell.
Geo Textile - Manas Geo Textiles are Polymeric Textile, which is permeable in nature & is used for Separation, Filtration, Drainage and Reinforcement. There are two types of Geo Textile:
Woven Geo Textile- Manas Woven Geo Textile is weaved with the help of a number of threads into a regular pattern. These are very strong & can handle heavy axle loads hence

are extremely useful in railway track foundation.
Non-Woven Geo Textile- Manas MGT Non-Woven Geo Textile is formed by Needle Punching random placement of fibre's. They are the most widely used Geo Synthetic as they help in separating the sub-base & base layer, acts as a filter media, drains the water into the side ditches and provides reinforcement and damage from heavy axle loads.
Geo Cell – Manas Geo Cell is three dimensional honeycomb structure that help in the confinement of the soil by preventing the lateral spreading of the base when load is applied.
Geo Grids- Manas Geo Grids is a polymeric sheet that is stretched into a grid & has a regular pattern of holes. Geo Grids are of two types:
Uniaxial Geo Grid- Manas Uniaxial Geo Grid can be stretched in one direction & are extremely useful for RE wall Construction
Biaxial Geo Grid - Manas Bi-Axial Geo Grid can be stretched

in both directions & are extremely useful in railway tracks & highway construction to increase the overall CBR of the soil.
Geo Membrane – Manas Geo Membrane is a Polymeric Sheet, which is used to control Fluid Migration in a Structure. They are used to secure landfills ensuring containment of Hazardous waste.
Future of Geo Synthetics in India
At the SIAM meet, Conducted on 7th May 2020, Honourable Road, Transport & Highways minister of India Mr Nitin Gadkari said that they have set a target of Constructing Roads worth Rs 15 Lakh Crore in the next two fiscal years.
The current government is spending a tremendous amount on Indian Infrastructure & the ministry has always emphasized on quantity as well as quality Infrastructure.
Past experiences & studies suggest that Geo Synthetics has been a really successful Technology for improving the overall quality of the design at the same time proving cost benefit in the longer run.
As per the Economic Times article dated 6th April 2020, "NHAI has successfully constructed a record high of 3979
kms of highways in the Financial Year 2019-20".
The government has also laid foundation and work on the prestigious Bharatmala Road project, which includes the development of 65,000 Kms.
Geo Synthetics are currently extensively being used in Delhi - Mumbai Road Project, Bundelkhand Expressway, Delhi Meerut Expressway. Purvanchal Expressway etc.
Cost-Benefit of Using Geo Textile in place of traditional filter media:
As per IRC Guideline 150 MM of gravel filter should be put under Stone Pitching.
In IRC 056.2011 there is an Amendment where we can replace this 150 MM Gravel Filter with Non-Woven Geo Textile
(https://law.resource.org/pub/in/bis/irc/irc.gov.in.056.2011.pdf)
Average Cost of Gravel - Rs 1000 Cubic Meter (minimum)
Cost of 150 MM Gravel Filter - Rs 150-Meter Square
Cost of Geo Textile - Rs 30-60 Based on GSM (MORTHH SECTION 700)
Cost Saving - Rs 90-120 Per Meter Square
Hence Geo Textile as a gravel filter in stone pitching & RE is extremely beneficial cost wise and also saves time & Labour in crushing the filter media.
Construction of Highways are being done pan India in great speed & the Government, Consultants & Contractors have started to realize the true potential of efficient use of Geo Synthetics which not only provides cost benefits to the contractor but also helps in uplifting the overall quality of Infrastructure.
