Vedanta And Nhai Sign A Long-Term Deal For The Construction Of Roads In Odisha Using Fly-Ash.
Fly ash produced by Vedanta Aluminum was used in cement manufacture and supplied for brick making in Fy22.
NHAI has just signed a long-term deal with Vedanta Aluminum to use fly-ash in the construction of greener roads in Odisha, the firm stated Tuesday.
For the construction of greener roads in Odisha using fly-ash, Vedanta Aluminium announced a long-term agreement with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
Cement, building, and infrastructure sectors all use fly ash, a byproduct of coal-fired thermal power production. In addition to enhancing product quality, fly-ash may help save 700-800 kg of carbon emissions and 341 litres of water in cement manufacture, among other benefits.
This year, Vedanta Aluminum produced and provided roughly 2.8 lakh tonnes of fly ash for cement manufacture, as well as 2.7 lakh tonnes for brick making. With hundreds of local brick-making MSMEs surrounding its operations in Odisha and Chhattisgarh, it is helping them shift away from mud bricks.
Because they are constructed from fly ash rather than typical clay, fly-ash bricks are not only stronger and lighter, but they help prevent the depletion of fertile topsoil resources.
