Tata Steel receives land allocation notification for Rs 2,600 crore project in Ludhiana
Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann presented the Tata group with the land allocation letter for the Tata group's first scrap-based steel mill, which would be built in Ludhiana with an investment of Rs 2,600 crore.
"We are determined to make Punjab a leader in the industrial sector, and this first investment by the Tata group in the state is a start in that direction," Mann was quoted as saying during a meeting with a team headed by T.V. Narendran, global CEO and managing director of Tata Steel Ltd.
In welcoming the Tata group to the state, he said that this is a "Red letter" day in the state's history, since this is the company's first investment in the state.
He expressed optimism that this significant industrial group's investment would further place the state on a trajectory of rapid industrial expansion.
Mann said that this is a time of pride for Punjab, and that the state government would provide Tata group its full assistance and cooperation in establishing and operating the facility in the state.
