India Strengthens Measures Against Rising Steel Imports
India is taking decisive
action to address the surge in steel imports, highlighted by Steel Minister
H.D. Kumaraswamy. Despite being the world's second-largest crude steel
producer, India remains a net importer, primarily from China, leading to
significant challenges for local manufacturers. The influx of imports has
driven local steel prices to their lowest in over three years. In response, the
government plans to advocate for increased tariffs and has launched an
anti-dumping investigation on Vietnamese steel products to protect domestic
giants like JSW Steel and ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel, ensuring the industry's
long-term sustainability.
