The Centre and southern states are anticipated to keep pushing housing and infrastructure projects, India Cements Ltd Vice-Chairman N Srinivasan said Thursday.

He added that increased home building and construction activity in metros, semi-urban, and urban areas would enhance cement consumption, but fuel and electricity costs would remain high.

The company's total volume expanded to 90.70 lakh tonnes from 89.02 lakh tonnes the previous year, while capacity utilisation at company-owned plants rose to 58% from 57%.

In 2021-22, he added, the construction industry revived, which boosted cement demand owing to increased infrastructure investment by the Center and States.
