cash prizes exceeding ₹3.5 lakh across three competitive race categories
Udaipur,
3 September 2026:
Hindustan Zinc Limited (BSE: 500188 | NSE: HINDZINC), the world’s largest
integrated zinc producer, has unveiled the Zinc Finisher Medal and announced
key details for the third edition of the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon.
With
registrations crossing 7,000 and continuing to rise, the AIMS-certified race
will return to Zinc City–Udaipur on 6 September 2026, bringing together
professional athletes, amateur runners, corporate teams, fitness communities,
families and first-time participants from India and overseas.
Cash Prizes Worth More Than ₹3.5 Lakh
The third
edition will offer cash prizes exceeding ₹3.5 lakh across its competitive
categories. The marathon will feature three race formats:
- 21.097 km Half Marathon
- 10 km Cool Run
- 5 km Dream Run
Each
participant who completes the race will receive a specially designed Zinc
Finisher Medal celebrating endurance, achievement and Udaipur’s distinctive
industrial heritage.
Finisher Medal Celebrates Udaipur’s Zinc Legacy
Since the
marathon’s inception, its finisher medal has drawn inspiration from Udaipur’s
identity as Zinc City and the region’s centuries-old zinc and mining legacy.
Continuing
this tradition, the 2026 medal takes design inspiration from Hindustan Zinc’s
mines and smelters. It symbolises the strength, resilience and perseverance
demonstrated by every runner while giving participants a lasting piece of Zinc
City to take home.
The medal
has become a distinctive feature of the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon,
connecting the sporting event with the history and identity of its host city.
Participation Expected to Exceed Previous Edition
The third
edition builds on the strong response received in the previous year, when
approximately 7,000 runners representing 27 Indian states and more than six
countries participated.
With
registrations continuing during the final run-up to the 2026 event, Hindustan
Zinc expects participation to increase further as runners converge on Udaipur
for race weekend.
The marathon
has been certified by the Association of International Marathons and
Distance Races (AIMS), strengthening its profile among competitive and
recreational runners.
Combining Sport with Destination Tourism
Set
against Udaipur’s lakes, heritage landscape and the Aravalli ranges, the
Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon has developed a distinctive proposition at the
intersection of sport and destination tourism.
The
course around Fateh Sagar Lake gives participants an opportunity to experience
the city beyond the conventional tourist trail. The arrival of runners,
families and fitness communities during race weekend is also expected to create
wider economic activity across Udaipur’s hospitality, travel and tourism
sectors.
Mr.
Amarendu Prakash, CEO of Hindustan Zinc, said:
“The
Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon has earned its place as India’s Most Beautiful
Marathon, bringing together Udaipur’s spectacular landscape with the energy of
thousands of runners. Beyond promoting fitness, we see the marathon creating
wider value for the city by strengthening sports and wellness tourism,
supporting the local hospitality and services ecosystem, and bringing greater
national visibility to Udaipur as Zinc City.”
Running for a Social Purpose
Beyond
the competitive race, the marathon will continue to support the #RunForZeroHunger
initiative, connecting fitness and sporting participation with a broader social
objective.
Engagement
has extended beyond Udaipur in the weeks leading up to the main race.
Promotional runs and community activities held across Hindustan Zinc’s business
units and in cities including Udaipur, Jaipur and locations in Uttarakhand have
engaged more than 3,000 participants.
These
activities have brought together employees, local running communities and
fitness enthusiasts while building momentum ahead of race day.
Bib Expo Scheduled at Field Club
The
official Bib Expo will be held at Field Club, Udaipur (Zinc City) on the
following dates:
- 4 September 2026: 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM
- 5 September 2026: 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Registered

by Hindustan Zinc in association with Anybody Can Run (ABCR), the
Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon forms part of the company’s broader efforts to
promote active lifestyles, grassroots sport and community participation.
Hindustan
Zinc also supports sporting development through initiatives including the Zinc
Football Academy and various community sports programmes.
With rising registrations, an AIMS-certified course, significant prize money and a finisher medal rooted in Udaipur’s industrial heritage, the third Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon is set to strengthen the city’s position on India’s sporting and destination-tourism map.
