In a significant move to
modernize urban development in Mumbai, the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA)
of Brihanmumbai has officially launched the SoftTech AutoDCR Online Building
Permission System. This digital initiative marks a transformative shift in how
slum rehabilitation project proposals are processed, aiming to enhance
efficiency, ensure transparency, and deliver faster approvals by minimizing
manual interventions.
Developed by SoftTech
Engineers Limited, a company specializing in technological solutions for the
Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry, the AutoDCR system
automates the scrutiny and approval of building plans. It allows developers to
submit proposals online, significantly cutting down the traditionally
time-consuming and paper-heavy processes. This automation is expected to reduce
delays, improve regulatory compliance, and create a more streamlined experience
for stakeholders involved in slum redevelopment.
“This launch is not just
about digitizing a process — it’s about redefining how cities can respond to
the needs of their most vulnerable communities with speed, clarity, and
accountability. We’re committed to building tools that don’t just automate, but
actually empower better decisions and outcomes on the ground,” said Vijay
Gupta, MD & CEO, Softtech Engineers.
The move aligns with SRA’s
broader vision to integrate advanced technology into urban governance. By
shifting to a fully digital approval system, the authority seeks to improve the
ease of doing business in the construction sector and support a more
accountable and responsive regulatory framework. This is especially crucial in
slum rehabilitation, where timely project execution can directly impact the
quality of life for thousands of residents.
