The government's legislative actions over the last seven years have streamlined mining auctions. To make bids more responsive, the system must be strengthened.

More than half of the 108 mineral blocks auctioned so far this fiscal year have been nullified due to lack of bidding activity, receiving less than the required three bids, or litigation.

Lack of unambiguous block border delineation without overlap with neighbouring blocks or lack of approach road space can dampen bidder interest. Higher auction prices and unavailability have led to blocking surrender or termination.
