India's Bold Move: ₹3 Lakh Crore Tunnelling Push to Revolutionize Infrastructure
Shri Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport & Highways, unveiled India's game-changing plan to construct 74 tunnels spanning 273 km with an investment of ₹1 lakh crore, alongside future projects worth ₹2 lakh crore. With a focus on reducing logistics costs and boosting exports, the strategy aims to tackle challenges like landslides and rocky Himalayan terrains through advanced tunnelling technologies.
Highlighting the need for
durable materials and quality DPRs, Gadkari emphasized innovation,
collaboration, and private-sector involvement to ensure cost-effective,
high-quality solutions. From coastal bridges to elevated roads in fragile
areas, the push for resilient infrastructure marks a crucial step towards
making India a $5 trillion economy. Robust roads and tunnels will be the
backbone of the nation’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.
