The bids were received after the deadline of November 28. Bids will be evaluated until December 14, after which the bidding will begin. Three of the four iron ore blocks up for auction are in North Goa, two in South Goa, and one in the centre of the state. Mining is not expected to resume immediately because successful bidders will need to obtain new forest, wildlife, and environmental clearances. The state has signed an agreement with the PSU Mineral Exploration Consultancy Limited (MECL) to provide geological reports for the auctions.
