BRO to Construct Rs 2,000-cr Tunnel in Lipulekh Pass
The Border Road Organisation (BRO) plans to build a six-kilometer-long
tunnel between Bundi and Garbiyang in Uttarakhand to improve vehicular movement
up to the last border post of Lipulekh Pass. The project, estimated to cost Rs
2,000 crore, aims to enhance connectivity on the India-China border. ATINOK
India Consultants has been awarded the contract for the tunnel's groundwork,
and survey work is currently underway. The border road is being upgraded to
double lanes, with the remaining work expected to be completed in 100 days once
approved by the Central Command headquarters.
