Odisha to Create New Economic Corridor with Rs 7,000 Cr Biju Phase-II Expressway Project
Odisha's Phase-II Biju Expressway-1 project, worth Rs 7,000 crore, is set to create a new economic corridor in South Odisha. The 305 km greenfield project will connect Berhampur to Jeypore via 15 blocks in 4 districts, excavate hills, and construct a tunnel that will reduce the road length by 25 to 30 km. Travel time from Berhampur to Jeypore will be reduced from 8 to 5 hours, while it will take only 45 minutes to reach Mohana from Berhampur and 1.30 hours from Rayagada to Mohana. Completion of the project is expected within three years, providing a significant boost to the state's economic and social development.
