In its 55th meeting, the Network Planning Group (NPG) greenlit six projects, split between Railways and Road Transport and Highways ministries, with a combined cost of Rs 14,081 crore. Among them, three railway projects, totaling Rs. 5,374.5 crore, include a Greenfield line in West Bengal, an alternative route in Odisha to ease congestion, and a railway line in Gujarat. Additionally, three road projects, amounting to Rs 8,706 crore, will contribute to vital infrastructure, including the East-West Road Corridor, Kharagpur Siliguri Road Corridor, and Deoghar Bypass. In total, 106 major infrastructure projects worth Rs 11 lakh crore are recommended for approval under PM GatiShakti initiative this fiscal year.
