Noida Toll Bridge Company requests Rs 100 crores to restore DND flyway
Noida Toll Bridge Company Ltd., a Special Purpose Vehicle established to construct, own, operate, and transfer the DND flyway, is requesting Rs 100 crores to carry out extensive repairs on the vital connecting route between Noida and Delhi.
The problem ailing India's first eight-lane access control highway is the absence of specified sources of income, with revenue dwindling as a result of negative placement by state government agencies in Delhi and Noida.
The collection of tolls from commuters on the DND flyway was halted in October 2016 after the Allahabad High Court ruled that two elements in the concession agreement regarding the imposition and collection of fees were invalid.
The Noida toll bridge is approximately 20 years old and requires extensive maintenance, including structural repairs. After writing to respective governments on multiple occasions requesting assistance, NTBCL was ultimately forced to petition the Supreme Court for directions requiring the governments of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi to provide an estimated Rs 100 crore as assistance for completing major repairs on the toll bridge, a company spokesperson told ET, adding that the matter is pending before the court.
