MoRTH Requests Advice On Stray Livestock Invading NHWs.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has asked for comments on handling stray cattle and other highway animals. Last week, the Ministry sent a letter to NHAI, NHIDC, and other relevant agencies.
It cited the Transport, Tourism, and Culture Committee's suggestions. In parts where wandering livestock and animals are an issue, barriers may be installed. Other options may be considered to decrease similar accidents throughout the whole NH network in the nation, making NH travel safer and more fluid for all passengers, "The standing Committee said.
In a letter to relevant authorities, the Ministry solicited comments/ suggestions on how to proceed.
In its report (No. 317), the Committee commended the Ministry's efforts to improve road safety nationwide. "Road accident fatalities have a significant detrimental impact on the country's economic progress. More must be done to reduce traffic accidents and deaths in the nation.
The Committee believes that well-trained and educated drivers on our National Highways are the key to changing the driving behaviours of the typical Indian motorist and making them more aware of traffic laws "report
