Many road projects in Bihar have been financed by the Centre: Former minister Nitin Nabin
Nitin Nabin, a former state road building minister and BJP functionary, said that the NDA government at the centre has allocated "vast" sums for the expansion of roads and motorways in Bihar.
62 trillion rupees ($82 billion) was allocated to the state under the Bharat Mala scheme, he added.
"It came on top of the Rs 5,400 crore allocated for 75 initiatives as part of the PM's special package. The National Highways Authority of India would be responsible for 24 of these projects, while each individual state will be responsible for 51 "Says Nabin. He continued by saying that the Bharat Mala featured a number of other initiatives, such as the construction of a four-lane bridge parallel to the JP Setu and the upgradation of the Rajauli Bakhtiyarpur road (at a cost of Rs 3,500 crore) and the Ara Mohania road (at a cost of Rs 1,400 crore).
