Gadkari Proposes to Turn High-Traffic State Roads into National Highways.
Union Road Transport and Roads Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the MoRTH would take over high-traffic State Highways from the State Governments for 25 years and transform them into four or 6-lane highways.
He added the Centre would collect tolls on these transformed roadways and completely repay state highway investments, interest, and land purchase expenses in 12-13 years.
Gadkari claimed the country's vehicle sector is 7.5 lakh crores and would be 15 lakh crores in five years. The Minster also predicted high returns on solid and liquid waste management initiatives.
