Along Mumbai's Eastern Freeway, BMC Intends To Build A Service Road.
The Eastern Freeway links P D'Mello Road in south Mumbai to the Eastern Express Highway in Chembur, and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) intends to build a service road that would run parallel to the Eastern Freeway.
Roads department heads at the BMC have estimated that the planned service road connecting Bhakti Park in Wadala and Jeejamata Chowk will be four kilometres long. They further said that Rs 620,000,000 had been set aside for the undertaking. "The service road will be built next to the major road that runs under the Eastern Freeway flyover from Daya Shankar Marg to the Bombay Port Trust (BPT).
The new route will run parallel to the motorway and be built directly under the flyover. The recommended width of a road is 60 metres, while the current one is just 40 metres wide. The official also noted that the Development Plan of 2034 calls for constructing a service road.
To carry out this scientific study, the BMC has hired a project consultant. The municipal authority has already issued a tender to choose the project's contractors, and three companies have shown interest.
