82% of the whole broad gauge network has been electrified by Indian Railways as part of their "Mission 100% Electrification" initiative.
In FY 2022–23, Indian Railways electrified 1223 Route Kilometers (RKMs), a 36.64% increase over the same data from the prior year. 80 per cent, or 52,247 km (32,465 mi), of the total broad-gauge route kilometres, had been electrified as of April 1, 2022. 14 railway stations are still in the tendering stage for redevelopment, and 40 railway stations have been renovated to include modern amenities. To improve passenger comfort, Indian Railways has suggested plans to electrify all Broad-Gauge routes by December 2023. These ideas include head-on generation systems, bio-toilets, and LED lighting.
