In a significant stride towards progress, the Union Ministry of Finance has granted a remarkable infusion of Rs 12,911.15 crore for the Polavaram irrigation project in Andhra Pradesh. This substantial funding includes Rs 10,911.15 crore dedicated to expediting the pending work, with the goal of achieving a remarkable water filling height of 41.15 meters in the project's first phase. The Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation will now forge ahead with drafting a Cabinet Note and securing the necessary approvals. Additionally, the Centre is actively considering releasing Rs 2,000 crore to address the damages caused by recent floods. This momentous approval marks a significant milestone for the transformative Polavaram project.
