The Arunachal Frontier Highway is one of India's most difficult projects.
The Arunachal Frontier Highway is a 2,000-kilometer-long highway that parallels the McMahon Line and is previously obstructed by China. The project is expected to cost at least Rs 40,000 crore and will cover the entire Line of Actual Control adjacent to Arunachal Pradesh. With a particular focus on Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, India has accelerated construction on a number of bridges capable of transporting heavy equipment to tunnels, highways, and feeder roads all the way up to the Line of Actual Control. When completed, the Sela Tunnel will be the world's longest bi-lane tunnel at an altitude of over 13,000 feet. Due to the closure of the Sela pass during the winter, the Army and the general public are currently traveling to Tawang via the Balipara-Chariduar Road.
