Union Cabinet Allocates ₹12,461 Cr for 31,350 MW Hydropower Expansion
The Union Cabinet has
approved ₹12,461 crore for developing 31,350 MW of hydropower projects as part
of its goal to achieve 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030. The scheme,
effective from FY25 to FY32, includes funding for essential infrastructure such
as roads, transmission lines, ropeways, and communication networks. It
encompasses hydro projects above 25 MW, including those by private sectors, and
supports 15,000 MW of pumped storage projects (PSPs).
