India's push to meet its 2030 renewable energy targets could see solar equipment imports surge to $30 billion annually, according to the Global Trade Research Initiative. Despite the country's ambitions to lead in clean energy, domestic solar production lags behind growing demand. As a result, India is increasingly reliant on imports from nations like China and Vietnam. To balance its renewable goals and self-reliance, India must scale up local manufacturing and supply chains, reducing dependence on foreign imports while ensuring sustainable energy security for the future.
