67 Projects in 3 Phases: India's Ambitious Coal Handling Capacity Plan
The Ministry of Coal has introduced a comprehensive National Coal Logistic Plan with an investment of Rs. 26,000 crores to enhance the country's energy security. The plan emphasizes "First Mile Connectivity" (FMC), focusing on railway sidings near coal mines. Strategies include improving mechanized coal transportation and loading systems through FMC projects. The initiative comprises 67 FMC projects, involving Coal India, Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), and NLC India, with a combined capacity of 885 million metric tons. These projects will be executed in three phases, targeting a mechanized coal handling capacity of around 1 billion metric tons.
