Varanasi Airport Expansion to Boost Passenger Capacity and Regional Connectivity
India’s Civil Aviation
Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu announced a ₹2,870 crore terminal expansion
at Varanasi Airport, aiming to accommodate 3 crore passengers annually by 2047.
Part of a larger ₹5,910 crore infrastructure push, new terminals will also be
built at Agra, Darbhanga, and Bagdogra. Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation
for the projects, including three new airports in Rewa, Sarsawa, and Ambikapur,
boosting regional connectivity. These developments, part of the UDAN scheme,
will strengthen India’s aviation network, spur economic growth, and create jobs
across multiple regions.
