Madurai Airport Access Road Set for Four-Lane Transformation at Rs 12.57 Cr
The Tamil Nadu highways department has unveiled a project to widen the 2.5km Avaniyapuram to Perungudi road, currently the sole two-way route to Madurai airport, into a four-lane thoroughfare. With an allocated budget of Rs 12.57 crore, the existing 10m-wide road will be expanded to a 17.5m-wide four-lane, complete with a 2.5m median. This development aims to improve airport accessibility, and the anticipated timeline for completion is within the next two months. Notably, all other approach roads had been upgraded to four-lanes in the previous decade.
