Adani Gets A Project To Build The Tajpur Port In Wb For Rs. 25,000 Crores.
In a recent meeting in Kolkata, the Cabinet of the Indian state of West Bengal authorised a plan by Adani Ports to establish a deep sea port in the city of Tajpur. Minister of Urban Development Firhad Hakim has predicted that the 25,000 jobs created by the Rs 25,000 crore project would help stabilise the city's economy.
The Tajpur Deep Sea port will be built by Gautam Adani's Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd., a greenfield project that will require an investment of Rs 25,000 crore ($3.1 billion). According to Hakim, the port alone will require an investment of Rs 15,000 crore, while infrastructure development will require an additional Rs 10,000 crore.
The recent victory strengthens India's biggest private sector port operator, which already has a 30% domestic market share and has been obtaining overseas contracts like the Haifa port project in Israel and a port facility in Sri Lanka.
A unit of Adani Ports secured an agreement last week to upgrade a terminal at the Haldia port in West Bengal.
