India and Russia are accelerating efforts to operationalize the Chennai-Vladivostok Eastern Maritime Corridor (EMC), a strategically significant alternative trade route connecting Vladivostok, Russia, to Chennai, India. A workshop is scheduled from October 30 to November 1, 2023, in Chennai to facilitate this initiative. The EMC not only facilitates the swift transportation of coking coal but also provides India with a vital trade route to establish a presence in the South China Sea. The operationalization of the EMC marks a milestone in India-Russia trade relations and enhances their geopolitical influence in the region.
