Mobile Conveyors Simplifies Bulk Material Handling
The use of mobile conveyors within construction and mining is becoming more and more popular as the industry continues to advance at an extremely rapid pace. Truck mounted, self-propelled and towable mobile conveyors (Fixed and Telescopic) permit fast, accurate, and efficient material handling at the jobsite, reducing labour requirements while freeing up cranes, skid steers, and tractor or wheel loaders for other work.

Towable mobile conveyors are wheel mounted while self-propelled can be wheel-mounted or track-mounted. Differences in discharge height and transfer length requirements, the condition of the terrain, the availability of power, the frequency of repositioning, throughput, and, of course, budget are all among the factors that have driven the market to create a large range of mobile conveyor models.
Some key benefits associated with using a mobile conveyor:
Increased Production & Efficiency- Even with a skilled, hardworking team, certain jobs can take unnecessarily longer when using the likes of wheelbarrows for material handling, particularly in larger-scale operations. Reduce time spent moving materials around the site by implementing a mobile conveyor and use the skills of the team more effectively.
Improved Health & Safety- The conveyor will do the lion's share of the heavy lifting, therefore less heavy lifting = less chance of labor-related injuries occurring.
Restricted Space- Construction sites can often be tight for space with mountains of different equipment lying all over the area. Mobile Conveyors can be leveraged to make the best use of available site space. For example, moving material from one floor to another or directly conveying waste into a skip.
Reliability & Durability– Conveyors are specifically designed to process bulk materials such as aggregate at ease and are built to withstand even the toughest terrains.
Lower Costs– Using a conveyor can eliminate high labor costs and keep operator running costs to an absolute minimum.
Concrete Placing
Belt conveyors are used to transferring concrete horizontally and limited distance vertically. Conveyors made expressly for handling concrete are relatively inexpensive and may eliminate the need for other more expensive auxiliary equipment such as cranes. They are particularly useful in areas such as tunnels where space is limited and are widely used in building construction, especially large floor slabs and bridge decks. In massive construction, such as mat foundations, dams, and power plants which require large quantities of concrete, conveyors are advantageous because of their placing capacities.
Fiber-reinforced concrete and other unpumpable mixes can be placed with a belt conveyor. A belt conveyor can work with low headroom, such as inside large buildings. The discharge rate means that more than one agitator can be used to feed the belt, speeding overall slab construction time.

Quarrying Industry
Conveyors offer the most cost-effective means of transferring or stockpiling bulk materials on the market. Within the quarrying industry, mobile conveyors offer an efficient, reliable, and robust material-handling solution that reduces the operator's dependency on haul trucks or wheel loaders, whilst offering a reduction in downtime and a longer equipment lifespan.
The ability of radial and telescopic conveyors to create large stockpiles improves quarry production allowing continuously loading feed material without starving crushers and screeners.
In the case of mobile screeners or crushers, short discharge conveyors on the equipment are generally only capable of creating small stockpiles, wheel loaders are often employed on re-handling duties, with material constantly being moved from the initial stockpile to another larger stockpile, before eventually being loaded on to trucks. Quarries that employ this system are effectively handling the finished products at least twice. By introducing mobile conveyors or stockpilers into the processing line, operators can leave crushers and screens running, with the wheel loader only having to move the finished product once – directly into the delivery truck. Ultimately, this can eliminate the double handling of material and reduce the operator's cost per tonne.
Mining Industry
In the mining industry mobile conveyors find application in building stockpiles, feeding train loading belt, loading an overland conveyor from satellite pit, heap leaching, backfilling tailing dams, loading road trains, placing material for rehabilitation after mining, and backfilling shafts.
Telescopic radial stackers can build high volume stockpiles for ore or coal awaiting transport, or overburden awaiting rehabilitation. Material from satellite pits can be loaded onto the overland conveyor as an alternative to using trucks.
Tracked transfer conveyors work with tracked radial stackers in heap leaching applications. Using conveyors avoids the compaction of the heap caused by using loaders to build the heap, which decreases the effectiveness of the process.
A telescopic conveyor is an alternative to a wheel loader for loading road trains, particularly if it is integrated with complementary conveyor equipment. By combining truck unloaders with a telescopic radial conveyor, the material can be placed for rehabilitation to meet the slope and other requirements of the reinstated landform using minimal equipment. Where it is unsafe for mobile equipment to approach the backfill zone, a telescopic conveyor can be used to provide the required reach for backfilling shaft application.

Transferring bulk material in areas with restricted or no vehicle access
Where there is insufficient room on site for used dump trucks or where the congestion would be unacceptable, mobile and portable transfer conveyors can be used for moving bulk material on site. Conveyors can also be used for transferring material in environmentally sensitive areas or placing material in areas where it is unsafe to have mobile equipment working e.g. close to the edge of an excavation.
Conveyors can also be considered for transferring spoil off-site to a suitable transfer or disposal location where having tippers access the site through unsuitable local streets would cause significant disturbance to residents.
Backfilling behind retaining walls
Often the ground conditions mean that a wheel loader cannot get close enough to safely backfill behind a retaining wall. A telescopic belt conveyor can set up away from the wall and close to a stockpile of backfill material. It can cover a long section of the wall before relocating, minimizing the number of stockpiles required.
Placing Geosynthetics
Telescopic belt conveyors can be employed for backfilling over geotextile. Earthmoving equipment can cause mechanical damage to seams and geotextile if insufficient care is taken. Conveyors don't pose this mechanical risk and can safely achieve high backfill rates.
A telescopic belt provides a faster means of filling gabions compared to a loader or excavator bucket and involves less spillage. It is particularly suited to sites where there are access restrictions on the use of loaders or excavators
