The infrastructure sector in India is predicted to grow at a CAGR of 8.2% by 2027. Signifying the need for robust enhancement of the sector, the Government has also allocated INR 10 Lakh crore in the Union Budget 2022-23.

In order to meet India’s aim of reaching a US$ 5 trillion economy by 2025, infrastructure development is the need of the hour. The government has launched the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) combined with other initiatives such as ‘Make in India’ and the production-linked incentives (PLI) scheme to augment the growth of the infrastructure sector.

The National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) offers a huge opportunity for creating world class infrastructure in the country and a wide range of equipment are needed in the execution of these projects.

To grab this opportunity, the construction equipment manufacturers are gearing up by launching new product lines, expanding the product segment with launching new variants or improvising the existing products and launching new upgraded products; focusing on the factors like versatility, safety, technology, productivity, efficiency, economy and sustainability.

Construction Technology has made an effort to brief its reader with some of the new construction equipments launched in past year.

Sany Bharat

Sany Bharat launched 12 new machines at Bauma CONEXPO 2023, which included launch of best-in-class asphalt machines for the very first time in India. With government making large scale investment plans for development of road network, Sany’s asphalt machine range with powerful engines and reliable components is poised to be the ideal solution in various work environment/road construction.

Sany Bharat's first pneumatic tire roller SPR260C, which is used for final asphalt layer to give smooth mat finish, is equipped with powerful engine and is unique in its application due to 9 tire configuration which endows it with max rolling width and automatic tire inflation system.

Sany Bharat's first of Asphalt Batch Mix Plant SLB1500X8E, with capacity of 120 Ton/hr., is used for producing superior quality mix for world class asphalt roads in batches. It is designed with global standard make in India model to provide asphalt production covering all types of roads.

Sany Bharat's first Track Paver SAP100C-10 is used to pave asphalt road and give a smooth mat finish. This paver can pave up to 10.2 mtr. road at one go. With complete auto levelling system, it gives unmatched smooth road finish and can be widely used for Expressway, NHAI, SH and PWD roads.

Sany Bharat's first Track Cold miller SCM2000C-8S is widely used in maintenance of roads for milling up old layer to repair. It can easily mill road up to 2 mtr. width at a go and mostly applicable for higher milling volume. Equipped with a powerful engine, it can easily mill any strata and its dust removal system prevents dust from leaking to environment. It is loaded with fully automatic levelling system requiring less human interference.

Other new product launched at the expo includes: 2Ton micro mini excavator SY20U with zero tail swing, fully upgraded new generation 6-ton compact excavator SY60C-10, new SPARC series excavator SY215C-9, STG140C-10 motor grader, STC1600T7 truck crane - developed specially for taxi jobs across the country, multi-function switching rotary drilling rig SR235MIII with 4 drilling modes, SR235DW Diaphragm wall grabbing machine, and SD390 Horizontal directional drill machine.

Tata Hitachi

In March-23, Tata Hitachi launched the all-new Mining Excavator ZX670H at the Kharagpur plant in the presence of customers. This made-in-India machine – is designed and manufactured to meet customer expectations of high durability, unmatched efficiency, easy maintenance, low operating cost, maximum safety, and comfort.

Tata Hitachi ZX670H is powered by an environment friendly EPA Tier II engine. The powerful 295 kW (400 PS) engine is designed to tackle the toughest jobs at any mining site with ease. ZX670H promises maximum efficiency with wide range of bucket options varying from 3.3 cum to 4.1 cum. These precisely matched buckets ensure optimal loading for haulers, leading to increased productivity for both the excavator and dumper.

Features like rock solid front attachment, improved undercarriage, reinforced boom and arm, DLC coated fuel injector, ensures the durability of ZX670H and allows the machine to withstand extended hours of work in tough and rugged working conditions.

The all-new ZX670H prioritizes safety over everything else. This machine has been designed and equipped with all the necessary safety features to ensure complete compliance with DGMS regulations. Also, ZX670H comes with an ISO standard FOPS (Falling Object, Protective Structure) cabin to ensure operator safety and has an integrated, overhead guard to help provide protection from falling objects. The safe and comfortable cabin is designed to reduce the operator’s fatigue.

Komatsu India

Komatsu India launched four new environment-friendly, B20-biodiesel ready, hydraulic excavators – Komatsu PC205-10MO Hydraulic Excavator, Komatsu PC500LC-10R Hydraulic Excavator, Komatsu PC210LC-10M0 Super Long Front and Komatsu GD535-6 Motor Grader.

The Komatsu Earthwork Master PC205-10M0 Hydraulic Excavator is specially built for the Indian market. It fulfils the long-felt need for continuous earthwork excavation in urban India and delivers unmatched fuel efficiency, high-performance, and low initial and maintenance costs.

The PC500LC-10R Hydraulic Excavator is the first of its kind launched by Komatsu in the 50-ton class. The machine is ideal for the mid-mining segment and works exceedingly well for overburden removal in coal mines.

The PC210LC-10M0 Super Long Front (15m reach) is designed for jobs that require reach, power, and speed. Equipped with a powerful Komatsu engine, positive load sensing hydraulic system, specially designed SLF attachment and a convertible counterweight, it is suitable for river/canal de-silting, well digging, breaking, and slope compaction.

GD535-6 Motor Grader is the next-generation CEV Stage-V emission compliant machine. Fitted with Komatsu’s newly developed 148 HP engine, the machine offers exceptional workability and environmental performance. It has improved operator comfort and maintainability over the previous GD535-5 model.

Volvo Construction Equipment

Volvo Construction Equipment has launched the EC550E crawler excavator in India. Featuring a Tier 3 engine, the machine is a perfect fit for the Indian market, enabling customers to benefit from its industry leading performance, productivity and efficiency.

Boasting remarkable levels of power and productivity, the EC550E is a machine perfectly suited for mass excavation and heavy-duty digging – boosting productivity by up to 35%. Available with a range of optimum-sized buckets, this Volvo Crawler Excavator sets new standards for the industry and is the perfect partner to wide-body 38-40t hauling equipment, reducing the number of required passes – dramatically improving cycle times.

Featuring impressive engine power, the EC550E delivers digging forces and lifting capacity more commonly found in a 60-tonne excavator, along with superior swing torque and speed. It is the ideal choice for handling heavy loads in the toughest applications, featuring an ultra-durable undercarriage with a long lower frame, a strong upper frame, and reinforced digging equipment with large pin size. The optional wider retractable lower frame provides further stability and higher ground clearance.

Customers can take fuel efficiency to a new level thanks to the next generation electro-hydraulic system with Independent Metering Valve Technology (IMVT) and engine/pump optimization, which lowers engine rpm while optimizing power. The main control valve uses Independent Metering Valve Technology, the latest pioneering innovation from Volvo and the most advanced hydraulic system in the industry. It provides significantly more precise control compared to a conventional system and contributes towards up to a 22% improvement in fuel efficiency.

For decades Volvo has been renowned for delivering the ultimate in operator control, comfort and safety, and the EC550E is no exception. Operators will be stepping inside the best cab on the market, with the ROPS cab exceeding industry standards for this class of machine, thanks to features including a 14-air vent climate control system and ergonomic seat with 9 adjustment settings. Boom and arm bouncing reduction technology also dramatically reduces machine shock, resulting in a more comfortable and productive operator performance.

Safety is enhanced by a 3-point seatbelt with a reminder alarm which notifies the operator if they are not buckled up. A seatbelt cutter/hammer assists egress through the emergency exit.

The already best-in-class visibility is further improved by the rearview camera and 10 LED lights positioned throughout the machine, including the rear. Furthermore, the optional Volvo Smart View uses front, rear and side cameras to provide a real-time, overhead view of the machine – especially helpful when working in confined spaces.

Behind the controls operators can easily select and adjust a number of functions depending on their personal preferences and the task at hand, including boom down speed, ideal for precision tasks which require optimum control and Boom/Swing and Boom/Travel priority.

ARX Construction and Mining Equipment

ARX Construction and Mining Equipment at EXCON 2022 launched motor graders – G3200 and G1000, and Blast Hole Drill Rig D3300 besides other machinery.

The Arx G3200 Motor Grader of 32-tons is a very large grader with a 310 hp engine and an 18 feet moldboard. It is ideal for haul road maintenance in mines with large dump trucks, for construction, and canal sites with very heavy earthwork. The Arx G1000 Motor Grader of 11 tons is the smallest in Arx grader range with a BS IV 120 hp engine and a 10 feet moldboard. It is designed for small roads, plantations, and for shoulder work on highways.

The Arx G3300 self-propelled, heavy-duty 6-8” crawler-mounted Blasthole Drilling Rig is capable of drilling 6 – 8” direct rotary / DTH. It is fitted with a Volvo D5 / Cummins QSB 6.7 engine of 173 BHP and has a heavy-duty box type derrick. It combines the best features of a piling rig (with slew arrangement) and is capable of drilling three holes in a single location. Since the traction speed is twice that of conventional drills, productivity is very high. It is fitted with an Atlas Copco XRH 1100 / 300 screw compressor and a 3-rod Lazy Susan type Carousel Rod changer. It has a fork chuck, break out wrench, water injection pump, dust collector, variable fan drive system, micro feed system with holdback, and a drill efficiency indicator.

Escorts Construction Equipment

Escorts Construction Equipment (ECE) launched NXT13DC CNG, India’s first Hybrid Pick-n-Carry Crane, with dual Fuel (Diesel & CNG) and RC2522, India’s first Mono Chassis Safe Crane with 25T lift capacity.

First in the series of Green Products, the newly launched NXT13DC CNG Crane in the 13-ton class has a 49.5 HP BSIII engine compatible with CNG and a robust straight axle backend. Developed with indigenous R&D, aligned with Make in India initiative, NXT13DC CNG Crane has a truck-like look and turning radius of just 6.3m along with standard features. Powered with Hybrid Engine, the crane offers a low operating cost and rear deck utility for the movement of material and manpower from one site to another. It has 3 parts fully powered boom with a maximum height of 13m and 14x24 heavy-duty rear tyres that ensure the machine’s long life. Unparalleled in safety, the crane is equipped with front outriggers for stability and safety during erection or high height work.

Aimed at changing the way of craning in India, the newly launched RC2522, Mono Chassis Safe Crane with 25T lift capacity is equipped with anti-toppling features that provide enhanced safety on-site and innovative technology that makes it superior to conventional machines. The RC2522 crane offers the best-in-class durability, high capacity, stability, and versatility of operations. Powered with 110 HP Kirlosker Engine, the crane has an automatic transmission and a low turning radius of just 6.6m. Its ergonomically designed cabin offers the best comfort for 2 persons and the front-wheel drive provides high traction in rough terrain. Styled with a global look, the crane can be used as a Telehandler with a maximum capacity of 8T. It comes with a man-carrying basket and a foldable fly jib. The boom and chassis of this crane are made from high structural strength material for better endurance.

Caterpillar India

The world’s largest construction equipment manufacturer Caterpillar has launched two next gen products in India. The Cat 303 CR Mini Excavator and Cat 120 GC Motor Grader.

The Cat® 303 CR Mini Excavator delivers power and performance in a compact size to help work in a wide range of applications. The Cat 303 CR mini excavator includes a Cat C1.1 turbo engine, with a gross power of upto 18.4 KW at 2400 rpm. It meets European Union (EU) Stage V emission standards and offers stick steer and cruise control travel mode. The newly launched mini excavator comes with standard features such as Product Link systems that track and transmit crucial operating data via VisionLink to help improve fleet management. It is equipped with ROPS & TOPS certified canopy as per ISO standards along with other safety features.

The Cat® 120 GC motor graders are designed for road grading, shaping shoulders, slopes, and ditches, or snow removal. It is easy to own and operate. A demand fan and standard ECO mode reduces fuel consumption while open access to maintenance points makes service quick and simple. It allows the blade control with consistent precision using lever controls from the comfort of the all new cab.

CASE Construction Equipment

CASE launched Loader Backhoe - 770 NXe, 770 EX Plus, 851 FX CP, Soil Vibratory Compactor - 1107 EX and Motor Grader - 845C.

CASE 770 NXe Loader Backhoe offers the perfect balance between power and efficiency. The new-generation hydraulics with variable displacement pump, coupled with the proven FPT S8000 49.5hp engine, delivers exceptional productivity without compromise in all applications.

The CASE DNA S-shaped boom offers better reach on the ground and on high body trucks, better transport height, and uninterrupted visibility.

The versatile and dynamic 770 EX Plus features a high torque electronic engine backed by a modern hydraulics system to provide more output per litre, and the 851 FX CP, known for its FPT engine technology that generates 97 hp and delivers a class leading 453Nm torque.

CASE, leader in vibratory compactors, has extended its offering with the new Soil Vibratory Compactor -1107EX featuring a standard drive and smooth drum for multi-purpose activities and standard compaction jobs.

The new 845C Motor Grader is a powerful machine perfect for infrastructure and mining projects. It features the electronically controlled FPT 6.7L turbocharged BS (CEV) IV diesel engine generating variable horsepower at 220 rpm - 193HP /205 HP / 220 HP. The intelligent hydraulic system with a load sensor allows operators to regulate the moldboard from the cabin, resulting in increased productivity and comfort.

JCB India

JCB India, India’s leading manufacturer of earthmoving and construction equipment, launched three new excavators for infrastructure and mining and quarrying applications. The new series known as the premium line consists of The JCBNXT 225LC M, JCB315LC HD and the JCB385LC. These machines are designed for arduous and tough Indian operating conditions in the most demanding of applications. They are capable to perform large-scale earthwork applications, quarries, and mining applications.

The JCBNXT 225LC M is a 22.5 Tonne machine and has a heavy-duty dig-end for the next level of durability for high uptime and lower repair costs. The machine is powered by a Cummins 148hp, 626Nm torque engine with an inline fuel injection system. This robust fuel system significantly helps in ease of maintenance and repairs. Enabled by Intellicontrol System, has 10 working modes, which can be selected depending on the type of application.

The JCB 315LC HD is a Heavy Duty Excavator which is armed to deliver excellent performance, reliability and durability in Marble and Granite Block Handling applications. It is powered by the revolutionary six cylinder 7.2 litre JCB DIESELMAX engine, built for supercharged productivity and the fuel savings, produces its peak power of 165kW (221hp) and max torque (960 Nm). JCB has added a Safety Level Lock to the 315LC HD and can only be started in a safe locked position via two separate inputs.

The JCB385LC 38 tonne large excavator enables to handle tough applications with extreme ease & efficiency. Powered by JCB Diesel Max 7.2 Litre CRDI Engine delivering 284 hp and high peak torque of 1150 Nm ensures excellent engine response & high output. A massive 262.7 kNm of bucket tearout force makes the machine very productive in all strata. User friendly modes including 3 lift modes and 4 digging modes are provided for adaptability of machine to suit application and job needs. These modes are selectable through engine throttle control dial switch. Moreover, the H+ mode can also be selected using an additional switch.

Schwing Stetter India

Schwing Stetter India, aleading concreting and construction equipment manufacturer, has launched its new range of equipment - XCMG hydraulic excavator and wheel loader.

The new range of hydraulic excavators include XE215i-K LC – 25T hydraulic excavator and XE140i-K HD – 14T hydraulic excavator. The first one comes equipped with 9 rollers and also has a longer track for the best grip. Schwing Stetter is one of the few players in the market to offer 9 rollers in this segment. The second one - HEX XE140i-K HD is a new generation 14T machine specially made for quarry usage. It is heavier and faster than the previous generation 14T machine.

The new wheeler loaders include ZL33FV – 3.3T and ZL55GV – 5.5T.  The ZL33FV is a modern age 3.3T BS4 wheel loader. This is a powerful machine with a heavier payload than the previous generation 3T wheel loader. The ZL55GV is the latest CEV Stage 4-wheel loader. This is far bigger in size. It has a powerful performance with enhanced Payload capacity. This is also specially made for quarry and mining applications
