emphasised and encouraged the use of artificial intelligence (AI). In his
address, he highlighted about the governments’ focus on implementing advanced
technologies in road safety ecosystem, MSMEs who can provide quality products
and emphasised on the potential of the sector which has a huge market for
exports.

Mr
Akio Yamamoto, Secretary General, ITS Asia-Pacific and President, ITS-Japan,
who attended the conference, shared: “The conference
has been very, very energetic and exciting. Not only the content but also the
network with the ITS colleagues, especially the ITS India forum – because the
ITS-India Forum is applying for membership of the ITS-Asia Pacific, was great.
How to utilize AI is my big interest. India is very good at IT technology, so,
this is the reason I came down here to learn how to utilize the AI technology
into the ITS services.”
Mr
Dushyant Deshpande, Director, Skytoll Pvt Ltd,
shared: “For the past 15 years, Skytoll has managed Global Navigation Satellite
System (GNSS) Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) systems for Slovakia, Czech
Republic, Slovenia and is now expanding its services to Croatia. GNSS ETC
represents a game-changing innovation that will unfold in the coming years.
Having participated in India for the first time, we see immense opportunities
to collaborate with stakeholders including system integrators, tech-service
providers and startups. The engagements we had with visitors and exhibitors at
the expo have been very encouraging.”

Likewise, exhibitor Mr Sandeep Pawar, CEO and MD, Kent IT,
shared: “We have been participating in the TrafficInfratech Expo for nearly a
decade. This platform stands out for its focus on innovation, allowing us to

exhibitors presenting innovative solutions at the expo. With the expansion of
highways and smart cities, I am confident that the expo will witness increased
participation from both visitors and exhibitors in the future.”

Satisfying the visitors
with a series of advanced range of solutions, Ms Mythili Menon, Advisor – ITU and FAO Focus Group on AI and IoT for Digital Agriculture,
International Telecommunication Union (ITU), expressed her experience as:
“Collaboration is key. Everyone deserves a seat at the table to co-create and
build solutions for intelligent transport systems. AI- and IoT-based solutions
will drive greater engagement and participation. Standardization is essential
for effectively implementing these technologies and application-based displays
can help visitors better understand and connect with the offerings. I look
forward to seeing more of this in future editions.”

Mr
Sanjay Sharma, Joint Commissioner - Interdepartmental Lead Agency Road Safety
Chhattisgarh, remarked: “This expo is more relevant than
ever considering India’s position as a country with a high number of road
accidents. The advanced technologies presented here have the potential to
significantly reduce accidents. The conference speakers also highlighted
innovations that could transform traffic management. There is an urgent need to
spread awareness about behavioral change and AI can play a crucial role in
understanding and addressing this.”

Resulting in satisfying the exhibitors and visitors, the expo garnered support from various regulatory bodies, ministry and associations including Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Central Road Research Institute (CRRI), Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Association of State Road Transport Undertakings (ASRTU) and National Highway Builders Federation (NHBF).
